Edition 6
The video centres featured music from day one. Bands like AC\DC in St Albans recorded by the Kingsville Kowboys to the Ormond Hall Last Stand concerts featuring Daddy Cool and Captain Matchbox produced by Brian Williams and Mac Gudgeon.

Sadly nothing remains of most of those tapes, however at a local level, music recordings were made by members of themselves - for shows, as training and just for fun.

The Francis Street Recordings

Video 1 - I’ve got to have you (Kris Kristofferson)
Video 2 - Love Song (David Page)

Over a Queens birthday long weekend in 1976, Debbie Manderson, David Page, Heino Saarelaht and Gary Shaw camped over at the Yarraville Community Centre.

A small audio studio was set up and about a dozen songs were recorded using a six input, three channel stereo mixer and two open reel audio recorders. These audio recordings were later used along with vision shot at Turtle Video in Williamstown for the program “The Last Three Years”. The surviving videotape was of course in mono - however miraculously the original stereo recordings have survived on cassette all these years.

So here now is the vision and sound as it should have been heard . . . in glorious stereo!
The Williamstown High School Music clips

Video 1 - Streets of London (Ralph McTell)
Video 2 - Seine City (Little River Band)

In 1981, Rob Stewart asked Westcom project workers David Gray and Heino Saarelaht to design a “music video” exercise for his video production students.

David and Heino provided the camera blocking and music - and the students operated the cameras and vision mixer in the High Schools new studio.

The original audio recording was done by Andrew Oliver and his friend Brian Ackerly on a four track audio reel to reel machine.
The Soul Divas

Annette Pryke, Sally Hetherington, Chris Coliins and David Booth are the Soul Divas (2001).

Annette played a lead role in “Scarless The Movie” (1991), however her real love has always been singing. This video is a compilation from a promotional DVD produced for the Soul Divas by Rob Stewart, Gary Shaw and Heino Saarelaht in 2001.
